At long last, vacation season is finally here—but don’t let the excitement of leaving the office keep you from covering all the bases before you head out the door! Here are three ways to stay safe and make sure your employees are ready to hold down the fort before you head off on your adventure:

Put someone else in charge of security: It’s easy to think that since you’re taking a trip, the hackers are going out to lunch too: But you’re going to need a designated security person (preferably a trusted, tech-savvy employee) to keep an eye on things while you’re away.  Don’t let your employees pull a fast one: When the cat’s away, the mice will play—and some employees may think that once you’ve stepped out of the office, their work computer is fair game for personal browsing. Make sure to set up appropriate monitoring tools so nefarious websites can’t slip through the cracks. Take full advantage of remote solutions: With smartphones and laptops, let’s face it: You never really have to stay away from the office if you don’t want to.
