What is it? Well, exactly as it says: a swollen or bloated laptop battery. In some cases, it can result in damage to the touchpad, keyboard, or even the display. Many laptops use lithium-ion batteries, and swelling is a known issue. An undiagnosed swollen battery puts you at risk for fire or even an explosion.
What causes it? There are a lot of possible causes for a swollen battery. From age to heat to defects or damage, it generally occurs when something impedes the battery from its ability to run through the chemical reactions that generate power. This, in turn, produces gases and gas build-up.
So, what do you do? A swollen battery needs to be removed ASAP. Our best suggestion is to stop charging immediately, turn it off, and bring it to our team to evade further damage. |
