Ars Technica has a fascinating article around Hillary Clinton and her Email woes as Secretary of State. During her time, she struggled to get through the spam filters at the State Department. She was unable to communicate with them from her private mail server. The problem seemed to stem from the security program in place on the State Departments mail servers, called Trend Micro’s ScanMail for Exchange 8. The program seemed to have a bug that wouldn’t be fixed until the next version, and the next version was far off into the future.
To fix the problem the State Department IT group turned off the security feature. This opened up the entire group’s email to some really bad things! If you read the article you will see this department has a history of breaches.
ACS has some very reliable, and cost effective email security resources. We recommend all of our clients take advantage of email filtering.
