Today, I want to talk a little bit of the business talk. We use a term in our industry called line of business software. So, a line of business software might be any kind of unique piece of software that was written specifically for your industry as opposed to say accounting software like QuickBooks which I guess could be a line of business software but it’s so general that it’s basically ubiquitous, especially in small business environment.
So, a line of business software for us, we use a program called Autotask and it basically runs our whole enterprise. It has got our ticketing system, our customer relationship management, billing and we use QuickBooks as accounting only.
So, when you talk about line of business software, you might have an ERP if you’re a manufacturer or you might have a full-blown accounting management software with file cabinets for storing customer information and some kind of customer portal so that they can gain access to their data.
So, when your IT guy starts talking about line of business software, this is basically a unique software; it might be unique to your industry or it might just be unique to you. You might not be wanting that piece of software in the entire community that you are in.
When you talk about line of business software, its software that your business uses to run itself or run some component of it that is pretty much unique either to your industry or it could be unique to your business as well.
